Vega,
Schønnemann Danish
Star Gemini

Hi! My name is Katja.

I am 33 years, and lives just 30 minutes drive south of Copenhagen with my boyfriend Lars, his 9 year old son and our 2 English female bulldogs, Luna (Respect-A-Bull Bad Solution) and Vega (Schønemann Danish Star Gemini).

My interest for this breed started 5 years ago, when I got my first English bulldog Muttley (A Wu-Bees Big Boxer Jimboo). Muttley’s breeder, Sascha, told me that Muttley might have a good chance of a “career” in the show-world, so I decided to give it a try. Then I was hooked.
When Muttley were barely 2 years old, I got Odie (BellusValentino). I fell in love with Odie’s father Max (Nobozz Maximus) after seeing him in the show-ring. The owner of Max, Mai Jensen from kennel Gloryhunter, told me about a litter that Robert Helbo had with Max as a father, on his female, Laura (Brittany Skarlet Terra Coelho). Unfortunately either Muttley or Odie came very far in the show-world. Due to the temper of my 2 boys I had to replace Odie in 2015. He is now living with a loving family and is retired from the show-ring. In 2016 I lost Muttley under a surgery for his elongated, soft palate. That was one of the biggest tragedy’s of my life, he was my best friend and I loved him dearly and think about him daily, still.

I needed a break after the loss of Muttley. I had to rethink my kennel-plans and how I could have an impact on the breed health-wise. I decided that my next bulldog should be a female, and in the end of 2017 we drove all the way to Wichen, Holland to Marcel and Mariska from kennel Respect-A-Bull. A couple of years before, I met Marcel at a show and fell in love with their female, Ivy, Respect-A-Bull Berry Blush. They chose a beautiful male, O’Connor of the TivoliBulls to mate her, and we brought home Luna, Respect-A-Bull Bad Solution. A girl I really think will go far. I had some kennels in mind, from both Norway and Holland as they have some high demands to the health of bulldogs, before you can use them to breed on.

I have some good friends within the bulldog-breeding-environment. Some of them are Michael and Heidi from the danish kennel Schønemann. I have always admired their way of breeding, they are honest and sweet people and we share a lot of the same believes in bulldog breeding and health. Their homebred girl, Schønemann Princess Althea has always had a special place in my mind, especially after I fostered her for a couple of months, after I lost Muttley. So when they chose a great stud dog, Ricatori King of Meljane to mate Althea, I had to own one of Althea’s offspring, little Vega (Schønemann Danish Star Gemini).

I hope that these two, wonderful girls will make a good foundation of my kennel. They are both from good quality lines, and I will make sure to healthtest them along the way.

Goals and Visions
I have never had a dream of being a big kennel-owner. My dogs shall be able to live with my family, in our house and grow into mentally, balanced dogs. I will aim for breeding healthy and happy bulldogs that follow the breedstandard according to FCI. When time comes, were I believe my girls are ready to have litters, I will breed for my own sake, to improve the well-being of the bulldog and to make some quality bulldogs for me to show and breed on.
If my household, can’t hold the number of dogs I keep, I will find family’s to foster them and give them good lives, while I still show them.

I will always try to breed with my gut-feeling and knowledge. I very much appreciate my friends within the bulldog-world, that help me by sharing their knowledge and experiences.

Kind regards
Katja - Kamileys Bulldogs
